Synopsis: In an isolated house at the edge of a cornfield, in the mountains of Virginia, something almost beyond belief is happening to the Cleary family. When Bridget Cleary goes missing, in the dead of the night, her husband Michael and son, Jeremy, scramble to help Sheriff Egan find her. Then, as suddenly as she vanished, Bridget reappears, talking about strange visitations and otherworldly beings. Is she lying? Or are supernatural forces at work? DARK MATTERS, written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Riverdale, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) is a suspense thriller about the secrets that hold families together and the terrible truths we sometimes choose to ignore in the people we love.
The following roles are open:
Michael Cleary: (40s) Father who is skeptical of Bridget’s story. Keeper of secrets. Writer.
Jeremy Cleary: (plays 16) Son who hasn’t adjusted well to the family's move to rural Virginia. He blames his father for his mother’s disappearance. (Due to mature themes, we would prefer an actor who is 18+)
Bridget Clearly: (late 30s) Mother who goes missing and reappears as mysteriously as she disappeared. Claims to have been communicating with aliens. Writer.
(The role of Sheriff Eagan has been cast.)
Callbacks, if necessary, are by invitation only and will take place in person at the theatre in mid-July (dates TBA). Rehearsals will begin mid-July and will take place three evenings per week. (To be determined.)
*This is a non-union/non-paid production.
