Footlighters’ Cast Ready to Fill Those Black Patent “Shoes”!

By Patricia Solecki

Rehearsals have been well underway for the November 8th opening of “Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up”, the comedy being offered by the Burlington County Footlighters, 808 Pomona Road in Cinnaminson as their Fall, 2002 production.  The story of adolescence, with all its angst and hormonal challenges as seen through the somewhat skewed eyes of 1950’s  parochial high school students, the production is under the direction of Medford resident Ann DeVaro; assistant director is Kevin Esmond.

Playing the roles of the love interests in the comedy are Becky Mosely as Becky Buchowski and Jeff Hopkins as Eddie Ryan.  Butch Berger has the role of Felix Linder, proverbial baddest of the bad boys!  Tom McCurdy will play Louis Schlong, while Lisa Chascsa portrays the role of Nancy.  Veteran Footlighters performer Maureen Broadbent has been case as Sister Lee.

DeVaro brings to the production over seven years’ experience in community theater, both in front of and behind the scenes.  She started her career while in high school with the Pineland Players, and has been associated with the Footlighters for the past five years.  Her “day job”?  DeVaro is a Project Manager with Moorestown-based Thoma, Inc.  A good complement to DeVaro is assistant director Esmond, who brings with him a background in computer science and the media.
