The Story This most American of musicals lays bare the lives of nine individuals who assassinated or tried to assassinate the President of the United States in a one-act historical 'revusical' that explores the dark side of the American experience. From John Wilkes Booth to Lee Harvey Oswald, Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman bend the rules of time and space, taking us on a nightmarish rollercoaster ride in which assassins and would-be assassins from different historical periods meet, interact, and, in an intense final scene, inspire each other to harrowing acts in the name of the American Dream.
To Prepare: Auditioners will be required to sing 16 bars of music (piano accompaniment will be provided, you may also use tape or CD; please no a cappella) and perform cold readings from the script.

There are no fees charged, nor are appointments necessary to audition, simply come along, and do bring friends or parents that might be interested in having fun helping out with set, props, makeup or other backstage crafts. Dress comfortably, and bring any items (resume, photos) etc. you may have. A professional resume or photo is NOT necessary to audition, and neither is acting experience.

If cast, you will be expected to assist the crew with breakdown of the set after the run, and read and abide by our simple CAST AGREEMENT while at Footlighters facilities.

Also, be sure to bring a pal who may be interested in joining the fun backstage, by helping with props, costumes and makeup. You'll have plenty of time to socialize in the actors lounge, which is equipped with a closed-circuit TV view of the stage. We can always use the help in a variety of areas.  Check out our Volunteers page that describes other things to do at Footlighters.
